“Thinking good thoughts is not enough, doing deeds is not enough, seeing others follow your good examples is enough"
Karuna Mukherjea’s 8 year old daughter, Nyla won a service award in her school. As part of the award she wrote an essay to share with her class and school. She believed that that little acts of kindness could really help change the world ... a little seed grows into a tree. She was inspired by the empowerment that every individual had when they internalized this thought and tried to be mindful of doing a good deed everyday.
Nyla also happens to be a technology savvy child and so came to Karuna and said " Mom you work for a software company.. Can you not build an app that we can use to record our little good deeds and words of kindness and share with our community to spread this message.
Karuna is Senior Director of Product Marketing in a large software company and has spent the last 17 years either designing or marketing software. Her husband is a marketing strategy consultant. They really liked the concept and could not find a suitable app that they as a family could use to just spread this good cheer. Thus the idea of "GoodyGood" was born. They teamed up with an engineering firm called RapidBiz Apps that specializes in building mobile apps and started the project. It took a few months and several hours of design review, product review, talking to their friends, their daughter's friend to really narrow down the functionality of the app.
They recently launched their app "GoodyGood" on the Apple Store for iOS and on the Google Playstore for Android.
RapidBizApps was the Technology and Design Partner for GoodyGood. They brought the design and engineering expertise needed to build a social good app like "GoodyGood". The team included top UIX Designers, Interaction Designers, Backend and Front End Devlopers for iOS and Android and QA Engineers.
The team helped took the social good concept from Karuna Mukherjea and worked with her to design and build an app that had "Simplicity" , "Beauty" and "Scalability" as it core elements.
The team followed a simple process when they worked as a the "GoodyGood" team. Every wireframe, design was discussed as a group keeping in mind the experience of our customer .. anyone over the age of 10 anywhere in the world. Will it be easy and simple for them to use ?
Karuna like to refer to this team of engineers and designers her "Dream GoodyGood Team" !
